Live music is back at Prahran Square

Feat: Mildlife, 30/70, Emma Volard, BUMPY, Adriana, Amos Roach & Murrundaya Yepengna Dancers and Orchestra

Presented by the City of Stonnington, the Victorian Government and PBS, Prahran Square Block Party reaffirms and celebrates Melbourne's reputation as the live music capital of Australia, bringing live music back to the local stage through On The Road Again.

This free, one-day major outdoor music event will be held at Prahran Square, an award-winning urban parkland, located in the heart of Prahran on 20 November 2022 from 12pm to 7pm.

Prahran Square Block Party boasts headlining performances from Mildlife, a Melbourne-based, Australian psychedelic jazz fusion group, 30/70, a Melburnian future-jazz collective, Emma Volard, a boundary breaking future soul artist, and BUMPY, a Noongar woman, Naarm artist and winner of 2022 triple j unearthed NIMAs (National Indigenous Music Awards), whose voice is incredibly beautiful, transformative, complex and stirring.

Kick off the afternoon and immerse yourself in contemporary Indigenous dance, story and culture as the Six Seasons of Gariwerd are celebrated in Song and Dance with Petyan to Ballambar, the newest production by Amos Roach & Murrundaya Yepengna Dancers and Orchestra. The First Nations dance group led by Amos Roach features dancers from all Kulin Nations and will surely present a breathtaking experience.

Join local favourite DJ Adriana, who will be spinning nothing but good vibes for everyone to enjoy throughout the day. Melbourne-based Adriana plays both traditional and contemporary sounds from different planes of the world. Expect global sounds, boogie, disco and everything in-between!

Prahran Square Block Party features a diverse range of music, with a focus on supporting local musicians, the LGBTIQ+ community, female artists, Aboriginal talent and other diverse cultures within the live music industry. As a free all-ages, family friendly gig, Prahran Square Block Party will provide live music for younger audiences, giving passionate young music fans the chance to see their live performers up close. The event will also draw visitors to the iconic Chapel Street precinct in Prahran to reignite retail and hospitality businesses.

Minister for Creative Industries Steve Dimopoulos said: "On The Road Again has already reignited live music in regional Victoria and in Melbourne's CBD, and will now kick-start a huge line-up of live music events across inner Melbourne."

"This massive line-up of events will appeal to every music fan, provide new opportunities for musicians and performers, support local businesses and get our live music scene pumping like never before."
