Three men are due in court today after a loaded shotgun and jerry cans were seized following the pursuit of a stolen car at Merrylands West yesterday.
Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command and Cumberland Traffic and Highway Patrol were called to Regina Street, Greystanes, about 5:15pm (Monday 17 November 2025), after four people wearing balaclavas were seen sitting in a black SUV.
As police approached, the driver allegedly accelerated away and a pursuit was initiated.
Police will allege the vehicle reached speeds of up to 80km/h in 50km/h-signposted streets.
The pursuit was terminated in Paton Street, Merrylands West, after the SUV hit a parked car and the occupants ran from the vehicle.
Two men were arrested a short time later after being chased on foot, while a third was arrested with the assistance of PolAir and the Dog Unit.
The SUV was searched and a loaded shotgun was found under the driver's seat while two jerry cans were found in the rear; checks have revealed the vehicle had been stolen from Balwyn, Victoria.
The three men – aged 19, 20 and 22 – were taken to Granville Police Station where they have now been charged,
A 19-year-old man from Woodcroft has been charged with six offences,

A 20-year-old man from Penrith has been charged with eight offences,
- Possess unauthorised pistol
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously
- Not give particulars to other driver

Not comply P2 licence condition not display P plates
- Face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and
- Driver not disclose identity of driver/passenger as required
A 22-year-old man from Woodcroft has been charged with three offences,
- Possess unauthorised pistol
- Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner
- Passenger not disclose driver's/other passenger's identity
All three have been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court later today.
Inquiries are continuing into the whereabouts of the fourth man with officers from State Crime Command's Raptor Squad assisting with the investigation.
