Communities across NSW are set to benefit with more arts and cultural programs, as 17 Councils receive over $1.39 million in funding through the NSW Government's 2021/2022 Local Government Authorities (LGA) funding round.
This increases the NSW Government investment for Create NSW's 2021/22 LGA funding round to more than $3.26 million across 32 Councils.
Minister for the Arts, Don Harwin said the funding will support the delivery of new projects and performances for audiences across NSW, while providing increased employment opportunities for the sector.
"The NSW Government continues to support the arts and culture sector through this latest round of funding with an additional 17 programs across the state supported in 2021/22, which is testament to the important role arts and culture plays in our local communities.
"This funding will help establish solid foundations and create opportunities and career pipelines for emerging and professional artists and arts and cultural workers, strengthening the contemporary arts and cultural ecology of NSW.
"Local councils have put forward plans for strong, ambitious and innovative programming, and I look forward to the exceptional new experiences they will deliver for NSW audiences, from Dubbo to Fairfield and the Tweed to Granville," said Mr Harwin.
The 17 funded projects are expected to generate more than $10.4 million in direct economic value across NSW in goods, services and jobs. It is estimated these projects will reach an audience above 958,000 people, involving over 5300 artists.
Focusing on excellence in arts and cultural outcomes for the communities of NSW, LGAs have been funded for one, two, or three years dependent on the merit and impact for each year of activity.
