Local experts needed to guide Port Stephens funded future

Port Stephen

Council are encouraging those that that live, work and visit Port Stephens to get involved and have their say on our funded future.

Acting General Manager Tim Crosdale said that it was time for Council to review its long term financial sustainability and understand how our community would like to see Council move forward into the future.

"After a tough few years and with our new Council in place, it's time to look at how we do business – where we can increase our income, find savings and strike a balance between the needs of our community and Councils funded future," Mr Crosdale said.

"Over the next few weeks, we'll ask the community to join the conversation and make their voice heard to help us decide how to move forward.

"There's a number options available to help shape our financial future, like reducing service delivery, increasing fees and charges, a rate increase or investigating new income streams – it's all on the table.

"This is a very important issue and we want hear the community's suggestions and concerns and work with everyone to make a decision," he added.

The Port Stephens community can join the conversation by attending one of the drop in sessions scheduled across the LGA.

"We're looking forward to seeing the community at our face to face or online sessions to tell them more about our financial position and where they can talk with Council executives and staff," Mr Crosdale said.

"We want everyone to have the opportunity to learn more and have their say – so add these dates to your calendar now," he added.
