Shellharbour City Council will mark Local Government week with a unique program of activities for children on Monday, 29 July from 11.30am to 1.30pm.
Additionally, Council staff will engage primary school students in dozens of activities that will introduce them to the broad scope of tasks performed by local government.
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said it was important that young people were aware of how the city’s services were run, and the influence they had on the future of the region.
“This annual event provides workshops that informs the children through their involvement about the vast range of tasks performed by Council staff on a daily basis,” Cr Saliba said.
Waste management, beach safety, bush regeneration and sports activities will be covered, as well as youth activities, engineering and historical preservation.
