Bayside Council is hosting a local history talk by author and historian Patricia Skehan at Mascot Library and George Hanna Memorial Museum.
Skehan will present The Secrets of Anzac Ridge: Flanders 1917 on Saturday 25 October 2025 from 10am to 11am.
Drawing on letters and diaries from Anzac soldiers, as well as the records of doctors, nurses, gunners and others on the Western Front, Skehan will bring to life the moving and personal stories behind Australia's wartime history. She will also share extracts from the diary of James Armitage, a young Sydney man who enlisted on his eighteenth birthday.
Patricia Skehan is a founding executive member of the City of Canada Bay Heritage Society and is widely recognised for her heritage talks and nationally published works.
This event provides an opportunity for the community to reflect and learn more about Australia's history in the lead-up to Remembrance Day 2025.
