Local man helps in police arrest - South Coast

A man will face court today arrested after allegedly fleeing on a bicycle from police in Nowra.

Just before 12pm yesterday (Wednesday 15 April 2020), officers from South Coast Police District were patrolling Nowra CBD when they saw a man wanted by police for breaching bail.

He allegedly fled the scene on a bicycle as he saw police approaching.

The man was found by police a short time later on Osbourne Street, riding towards Hyam Street.

As two officers chased the man on foot, a traffic control operator stuck a stop/go sign in the front wheel of the bike and the man fell off.

The man was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with possess prohibited drug, enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court today (Thursday 16 April 2020).
