Loch Sport is fire ready

On Saturday 29 February Loch Sport Fire Brigade along with District 10 staff members conducted a fire-ready information session for the Loch Sport community and residents.

Loch Sport is fire ready

More than 60 community members flocked to the Loch Sport community hall to gain important bush and grassfire survival information for households and individuals.

Loch Sport is a coastal tourist town on the Ninety Mile Beach and Lake Victoria in Central Gippsland. This little township has a population of just under 1,000, though the number swells to 7,000 during Easter and Christmas holidays.

The aim of the session was to ensure the isolated community members had the opportunity to ask questions and build their knowledge about how to stay safe during a fire or any emergency that could occur in the township. Topics covered included staying informed before and during an emergency, property preparation, property access and water supply for CFA vehicles, emergency warning levels and fire danger ratings.

Community members then enjoyed a free sausage sizzle cooked by the Loch Sport brigade members, which was a further opportunity to talk one-on-one with CFA personnel.
