Lockdown at Kent Institution

From: Correctional Service Canada

On February 3, 2021, at about 8:30 p.m., a partial lockdown was put in place at Kent Institution, a maximum security federal institution, following an inmate assault incident.

Some areas of the institution have been placed under lockdown following the incident to allow a review of the situation, to assess the risk and to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff and inmates. Normal operations will resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so.

The Agassiz detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the institution are presently investigating the incident.
