Lord Nelson Park receives $500,000 for facility upgrades

St Arnaud's Lord Nelson Park has received a major financial boost to its planned upgrades, with Northern Grampians Shire Council receiving a $500,000 grant from the Federal Government's Community Sport Infrastructure grant program.

The announcement was made at the renowned community facility on Saturday by Senator Bridget McKenzie and The Nationals Candidate for Mallee Dr Anne Webster.

The financial boost will go towards new facilities at Lord Nelson Park which includes the construction of new female and umpire change rooms, and upgrades to male change rooms.

These upgrades will enable more participation in sport within the area, and in particular help grow women's sport within the region.

A new canteen facility will also be constructed, along with upgrades to public toilet facilities and additional social space.

Kara Kara Ward Councillor, Tony Driscoll said, "This is a great investment into our community, which will see a whole range of sports and community groups benefit such as football, netball, hockey, harness racing and the Agriculture Show."

"We appreciate the input from the Federal Government, which now means that all three tiers of government have come together to make this happen, creating something that the whole community can use and benefit from in the process."
