Luke Achterstraat appointed new NSW Executive Director

The Property Council of Australia is pleased to announce that Luke Achterstraat will be its new NSW Executive Director.

Mr Achterstraat has been a government relations consultant, led a successful disruptive start-up talent placement company, worked for two federal Ministers and was an adviser to a mining industry body.

Property Council Chief Executive Ken Morrison said Mr Achterstraat was the right person to lead the organisation in NSW.

"This is a critical time in the state's economic recovery and I am delighted that someone with Luke's leadership, government and corporate skills will be leading the Property Council in NSW," Mr Morrison said.

Mr Achterstraat said he was honoured to represent an industry that has such an important role in the future of the state.

"The property industry employs more than 390,000 people in NSW, shapes the future of our cities and literally touches the lives of every Australian," Mr Achterstraat said.

"While the pandemic continues to challenge us the way ahead is opening up and there are such exciting opportunities ahead here in NSW.

"Whether it's economic recovery from the pandemic, housing our growing population, reinvigorating our CBDs, getting investment into the regions or partnering with governments to make our planning system better - this industry is central to the task.

"I look forward to working with our members, policy makers and other stakeholders to help create a better, stronger post-pandemic world here in NSW.

Mr Achterstraat will commence in the role on 9 August 2021. Until this time Lauren Conceicao will continue as Acting NSW Executive Director.
