M1 Southbound Lanes Shut By Fatal Crash At Ourimbah

A man has died in a head-on crash on the Central Coast this morning, which has closed the southbound lanes of the M1.

Emergency services were called to the Pacific Motorway at Ourimbah after reports a sedan and ute had crashed head-on shortly before 3.30am (Monday 8 June 2026).

The man driving the sedan was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The man driving the ute has been taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Initial inquiries suggest the sedan was travelling north in the southbound lanes, but police are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with dashcam that may assist investigators.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The M1 remains closed at the scene with diversions in place via the Old Pacific Highway. Please check www.livetraffic.com for updates.
