Machinery theft in Corio

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after $200,000 worth of tools were stolen during two burglaries in Corio over the past week, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have determined that a number of offenders entered offices and shipping containers at a commercial construction site on Heales Road on two separate occasions.

The first occurred between 4pm on 16 June and 6am on 18 June and the second occurred between 12pm on 23 June and 6.30am on 25 June.

During the second incident, the offenders used an excavator that was already onsite to load large, heavy items onto a truck including a Somero Laser Screed S485/S15R valued at $165,000 and a yellow Wacker Neuson ride on trowel model CRT48 valued at $2000.

Police have released images of two of the stolen items.

Anyone who saw suspicious behaviour around the construction site during the time of the burglaries is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
