Melton City Council has marked an exciting milestone with the official opening of the new Rugby and Gridiron Pavilion at MacPherson Park on Coburns Road in Toolern Vale.
The project forms part of the long-term redevelopment of this regionally significant sporting precinct and delivers modern change rooms, social spaces, kitchen facilities and upgraded amenities to support our growing clubs and their members.
Council invested more than $4.3 million in this project, with Sport and Recreation Victoria contributing $1 million through the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund - Female Friendly Facilities stream.
Rugby league and gridiron continue to grow strongly across the City of Melton with increasing participation numbers, expanding junior programs, and more families getting involved each season.
The new pavilion builds on ongoing upgrades completed as part of the overall MacPherson Park redevelopment which has been underway since 2019. Previous works include upgrades to the AFL football cricket precinct, upgrades to the soccer precinct and a number of whole of park service upgrades to support further stages including the upgrade of the Rugby Gridiron precinct.
MacPherson Park is the City's regional sporting precinct, servicing clubs and teams from the local area and the broader region. It is home to a diverse range of sporting clubs including football, soccer, rugby league, gridiron, netball, cricket, baseball, pony club, racing pigeon club, and the greyhound racing club.
