Mail theft and deceptions in Prahran

Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the theft of a credit card from a Prahran mailbox and subsequent deceptions, Victoria Police say.

The card was stolen from the Izett Street letterbox on Monday 22 May.

The thief has then gone on a shopping spree, using the bank card 18 times in stores around Prahran and Melbourne’s CBD between 30 May and 1 June.

Detectives believe the man was using public transport to travel between stores.

Police have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

During each theft the man was wearing a distinctive lanyard that police have not been able to identify at this stage.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
