Grant applications now open to support major events and community initiatives

Port Macquarie Hastings Council (PMHC) has opened first-round applications for two grant programs that support local community groups, not-for-profits, sporting associations, event organisers and businesses.

Mayor of Port Macquarie Hastings Council, Peta Pinson, stated the Community Grants and Major Events Grants programs aim to support projects and organisations that have shown interest and commitment to showcasing a vibrant, connected, inclusive and engaged region.

"We have incredible people and organisations across our region who have innovative ideas and want to make a positive contribution," said Mayor Peta Pinson.

"As a council, we are excited to support projects, events and initiatives that help make our community a better place, benefit our local economy, and attract more visitors to our region," she said.

The Community Grants are available for not-for-profit organisations and community groups who need a boost to get innovative and sustainable projects and initiatives off the ground.

There are four new grant categories:

  • Community Projects - $10,000: To provide opportunities to deliver inclusive projects and programs that enhance community spaces, wellbeing, and participation.

  • Creative Community - $5,000: To provide opportunities to support the delivery of creative activities, such as performances, visual arts, dance, drama, and music.

  • Community Celebrations - $5,000: To provide opportunities to deliver events that enhance social inclusion and celebrate national days of significance.

  • Micro Grants - $2,000: Available all-year-round to support unexpected opportunities for community development activities, programs and place-making projects.

The Major Events Grants provide financial support of up to $5,000 for events that have potential to attract visitors to our region or positively contribute to the region's economic climate and generate destination exposure.

The funding can support marketing activities such as website development, digital marketing, advertising or general expenses if the application is a sporting association. Quick Grants of up to $1,000 are also available year-round for event expenses.
