Major Funding Boost To Support Important Relief Work

Dept of Social Services

The Albanese Labor Government is delivering a $4.7 million boost to critical services supporting Australians doing it tough, including more funding and support for frontline organisations providing food, clothes and other essential services to those who need it most.

Whether it's helping to put food on the table, providing clothing during a disaster or connecting people with supports like financial counselling or mental health, these services provide practical assistance to those struggling with cost of living or financial stress.

A total of $2 million will be shared amongst Oz Harvest, Good360, Foodbank and Secondbite. These organisations provide important relief work across the country, and this extra funding will ensure they can continue to respond and assist those who reach out for help as we move into the holiday and high-risk weather season.

70 Emergency Relief Providers in specific regional and remote communities will receive a 15% boost to their annual funding. These providers are a lifeline when dealing with financial distress and will ensure more Australians can access help in their local area.

A $1.1 million funding boost will also be given to the National Debt Helpline, ensuring more people have access to free and confidential counselling when struggling with financial pressures.

From 2025, the Government is investing more than $460 million over 5 years into Financial Wellbeing and Capability supports. These help vulnerable people with aid, counselling and other practical services to assist them when they need it most.
