Malicious wounding in Wingham

A man has been charged following an alleged assault at Wingham, mid-north coast of New South Wales yesterday, NSW Police say.

Last night on Thursday 26 January 2017, a man was with family members at a home on Lambert Street, Wingham.

An argument ensued between a 19-year-old man and a 63-year-old man at the home.

During the argument the 63-year-old man sustained a number of stab wounds to his back, none of which were life-threatening.

The injured man was taken to Manning Base Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers from Manning/Great Lakes Local Area Command attended and commenced investigations.

About 1.10am today (27 January 2017) police arrested the 19-year old man at Wingham.

He was taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Taree Local Court today.
