Man and officers injured in Botany Bay

Investigations are underway after a police operation in Botany Bay today, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 11.15am today, police were called to a home on Stephen Road, following reports of a man barricaded in a garage.

Following concerns for the man’s welfare, just before 3pm, police forced entry.

The man and four police officers were injured after a fire erupted.

The man and one of the injured police officers were taken to St George Hospital. Two other police officers were taken to Prince of Wales Hospital. A fourth officer was treated at the scene. All suffered various injuries.

Inquiries into the incident continue by officers attached to Botany Bay Local Area Command.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
