Man And Teen Charged After Armed Robbery At Wellington

A man and a teen have been charged following an alleged armed robbery in the state's Orana region.

On Thursday 23 April 2026, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were called to a shopping complex on Percy Street, Wellington, following reports of an armed robbery.

On arrival, police were told shortly after 7.15pm, a 47-year-old man was walking on Percy Street when he was allegedly threatened with a knife by an unknown man and teenage boy before they robbed him of his bag that contained personal items.

The man and the boy ran from the scene before the arrival of police.

The 47-year-old man was uninjured, and police commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 37-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy on Reid Street, Wellington, before taking them to Wellington Police Station.

The man and boy were both charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon.

The boy was refused bail to appear a Children's Bail Division Court today (Saturday 25 April 2026), where he was given conditional bail to appear at a Children's Court on Monday 18 May 2026.

The man was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 4 today (Saturday 25 April 2026) where he was again refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Monday 7 May 2026.
