Man and teenager charged with firearm offences

Launceston detectives have charged a man and a teenager with firearm offences following reports of gun shots being fired in Invermay and Ravenswood last month.

Tasmania Police responded to reports of gun shots being fired at New Street, Invermay on Thursday, 19 December 2019 and Warring Street, Ravenswood on Saturday, 28 December 2019.

No one was injured on either occasion.

After an extensive investigation by Launceston CIB, a 26 year old man from Invermay and a 17 year old from South Launceston have been charged with a number of offences including recklessly discharge a firearm, discharge a firearm in a public place and possess a firearm without a licence.

Police have also recovered ammunition and a stolen firearm.

Both the man and the teenager have been remanded in custody to appear in court at later dates.
