A man and woman have been charged after allegedly assaulting three NSW Ambulance paramedics in Sydney’s south west overnight, NSW Police say.
About 12.30am today, three paramedics attended a home on Betsey Way, Ambarvale, after receiving reports of a man requiring assistance.
It is alleged that as the paramedics treated a 26-year-old man, he grabbed one of the officers and threw her across the room. He then swung his forearm striking a second paramedic in the chest before pushing a third paramedic on his way outside.
The man allegedly punched a hole in the rear window of the ambulance.
Officers from Campbelltown Local Area Command attended and arrested the man.
The man’s partner, a 23-year-old woman, attempted to intervene. The third paramedic attempted to assist officers by restraining the woman, however was again assaulted.
Whilst handcuffed, the man allegedly rushed towards a police officer before being subdued with OC spray.
The three paramedics and a police officer sustained minor injuries.
The man and woman were taken to Campbelltown Police Station.
The man was charged with three counts of assault, malicious damage, intimidation, assault officer in execution of duty and resist officer in execution of duty. He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.
The woman was charged with common assault and resist officer in execution of duty. She was granted conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Monday 9 October 2017.
