Man arrested after barricade incident in Lavington

A man has been arrested after a barricade situation in Albury overnight, NSW Police say.

About 11.35pm (Friday 12 October 2018), police were called to a domestic-related incident on Kemp Street, Lavington.

On arrival of police, a 48-year-old man armed with a knife locked himself in the home.

A 47-year-old woman was able to leave the home uninjured.

A perimeter was established and specialist police and negotiators attended.

Following attempted negotiations, just before 5am today (Saturday 13 October 2018), specialist officers from the State Protection Group forced entry to the home and arrested the man without incident.

He was taken to Albury Police Station where inquiries continue.
