Man arrested after Canley Vale bag snatch, NSW

A man has been arrested after a pregnant woman had her bag stolen at Canley Vale earlier this month, NSW Police say.

Between 5pm and 5.20pm (Monday 9 July 2018), a 23-year-old woman, who is 9-months pregnant, was on a train at Canley Vale Railway Station when a man entered the carriage.

The man allegedly grabbed her handbag and jumped out of the train and the woman tripped as she jumped out after him, injuring her knees.

A man and woman chased the man down Third Avenue but eventually lost sight of him.

Acting on information received Fairfield Detectives today (Monday 16 July 2018) went to a home on Newleaf Parade at Bonnyrigg.

They arrested a 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman at the house.

The 32-year-old man was taken for assessment and on his release he will speak with Fairfield Detectives regarding the 9 July incident.

The 23-year-old woman was charged with unrelated stealing offences and breaching bail. She was refused bail and will appear in Fairfield Local Court tomorrow.
