Man Arrested After Escaping Custody at Manly Court

A man has been arrested after allegedly running from court in Sydney's north.

About 3.30pm on Thursday 23 July 2026, a 40-year-old man was appearing at Manly Local Court, charged in relation to a previous matter.

When he was refused bail by the judge, the man allegedly ran from the court room and onto Belgrave Street.

After a foot pursuit, he was arrested by Sheriff's Officers and police from Northern Beaches Police Area Command.

OC spray was deployed during the arrest.

The man was taken to Manly Police Station where he was charged with:

- Inmate escape/attempt to escape lawful custody

- Hinder or resist law enforcement officer in execution of duty

- Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty

He was refused bail to appear before Many Local Court on Friday 24 July 2026.
