Man arrested after firearms were stolen from a house, NSW

Police have arrested a man following a break and enter near Coonamble in the state’s north west, NSW Police say.

Police were called to a house on Werribee Street, Quambone, which is 10kms west of Coonamble, about 6pm (1 January 2017) following reports of a break and enter.

Police were told that a number of firearms and other items were stolen during the break and enter.

Officers from Castlereagh Local Area Command attended and commenced an investigation into the incident.

As a result of inquiries, officers attended a home on Cooma Street, Quambone, and arrested a 19-year-old man.

Police searched the house, allegedly locating several items stolen during the break and enter including a rifle and shotgun.

The man was taken to Coonamble Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences including break and enter and various firearms offences.

He was bail refused to appear before Parramatta Local Court today.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
