Police have arrested a man after a vehicle was followed across a number of streets and suburbs in the Ballarat area before being rammed by police in Wendouree this afternoon.
Police sighted the white Toyota Prado in Canadian about 9.15am.
With the assistance of the Air Wing, police tracked the vehicle as it drove erratically and dangerously across suburbs including Redan, Ballarat and Wendouree.
The Toyota was allegedly observed travelling at more than 90km/hr in numerous 60km/hr zones, driving counterflow to oncoming traffic, driving on footpaths and median strips causing pedestrians to take evasive action.
Police deployed stop sticks on Pleasant Street in Redan where the Toyota continued to drive on its rims for at least another 40 minutes.
The car continued to be driven erratically and at speed causing significant risk to the public in the Ballarat area.
Police bought the Toyota to a stop by ramming it on Gillies Street, near Howitt Street in Wendouree about 12.05pm to prevent any further serious risk to the community.
A 35-year-old Sebastopol man was swiftly arrested and taken into custody.
There were no injuries to police or civilians.
The Toyota was stolen from a Camberwell address on 30 September.
It is also alleged the Toyota was bearing false plates.
