Man arrested after pursuit through northern suburbs, SA

A man will face court today on several charges following a police pursuit through the northern suburbs last night in a stolen car, according to SA Police.

At about 1pm yesterday, a Ford Laser sedan was allegedly stolen from Rostrevor, a short time later a male driving the stolen Laser was involved in a petrol drive-off at service station at Felixstow.

Just after 7.30pm, a man in the stolen car allegedly stole several cans of alcohol from an Elizabeth South Hotel.

At 8.15pm police patrols spotted the stolen car at Mawson Lakes and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused and it was followed at the speed limit, north on Main North Road through suburbs of Salisbury, Parafield, Elizabeth, Burton and Salisbury North, before road spikes were used successfully in Woodyates Avenue, and the driver was arrested.

A 39-year-old man of no fixed place was charged illegal use, two counts of theft, engage in a police pursuit and drive without a licence.

He has been refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.

There were no injuries or damage to any vehicles.
