Man arrested after stolen car crashes at Seaton , SA

Police have arrested the driver of a stolen car after it collided with another vehicle at Seaton this afternoon, according to SA Police.

Just after 2.30pm today, a police patrol spotted a stolen blue 2002 Holden Commodore with a Western Australian registration 1DVK-855 travelling north on Morphett Road at Morphettville.

The stolen car was not pursued but last sighted near the intersection of Anzac Highway and Tapleys Hills Road.

A short time later PolAir (the police helicopter) was airborne and spotted the stolen Commodore north on Military Road heading towards West Lakes.

PolAir kept the stolen car under observation as it travelled to Port Adelaide then to Pennington via Grand Junction Road, then eventually south along Clark Terrace at Seaton where it collided with a BMW near the intersection of Tapleys Hill Road.

The man driving the stolen car ran from the scene , but police patrols cordoned off the area, but the man was located and arrested nearby.

A 32-year-old man from Goodwood was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and numerous driving offences including driving in manner dangerous to the public.

The arrested man is expected to be refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.

There were no injuries in the crash between the stolen car and the BMW driven by a member of the public, however both cars were extensively damaged.

The blue Commodore was stolen from outside a home at Mile End overnight.
