Man arrested after traffic incidents and assault in Guildford

Police have arrested a man on the roof of a unit block after a number of alleged traffic incidents and an assault in Sydney’s west last night, NSW Police say.

About 10.15pm today, a Holden Commodore was stopped at lights at the intersection of Guildford and Woodville roads, Guildford, when it was allegedly hit from behind by a Holden Astra.

After a short time, it’s alleged the Astra accelerated again, hitting a BMW before driving from the scene.

The car then continued to an address at Guilford where it hit a parked Toyota Corolla on Guildford Road.

Police will allege the driver then left the vehicle and punched an 18-year-old man, leaving him with a suspected broken nose. The men were not known to each other.

Police arrived a short time later to see the man climbing from a second-storey balcony onto the roof of a unit block.

Police established a perimeter and officers from the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit spoke with the man who was eventually arrested.

The 20-year-old man was taken to Merrylands Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, negligent driving (x2), not give particulars to other driver (x2), and drive vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today.
