Man arrested and three firearms seized - Drug and Firearms Squad

A man has been arrested and three firearms seized following a vehicle stop in Sydney's south west this afternoon.

As part of ongoing proactive operations by the State Crime Command's Drug and Firearms Squad to address firearm related crime in south west Sydney, a vehicle was stopped on Alfords Point Road Bridge, Padstow Heights, just before 1pm today (Friday 5 March 2020).

With assistance from the Public Order and Riot Squad, the driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old man, was arrested.

The vehicle was searched, and detectives located three firearms, which have been seized for forensic examination.

He was taken to Sutherland Police Station where charges are expected to be laid.

Inquiries continue.
