Man arrested during Parafield Gardens robbery

A man was arrested at the scene of a service station robbery at Parafield Gardens overnight.

Police responded to reports of suspicious behaviour at a service station on Salisbury Highway, Parafield Gardens about 12.15am on Tuesday 16 May.

On arrival they located a robbery in progress and quickly apprehended the suspect.

It will be alleged a man entered the service station armed with a firearm, threatened four people inside the store and demanded cigarettes. The victims had been detained in the rear of the store.

Fortunately, none of the victims were physically injured during the incident.

The 20-year-old Parafield Gardens man was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, firearms and weapons offences and unlawful detention. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.

Police seized a gel blaster and a taser.

Investigations are continuing.
