Man arrested following armed robbery, NSW

A man has been charged after an alleged armed robbery at St Marys yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 2.35pm yesterday, a man entered a pawn broking business on Queen Street, St Marys, with his face concealed.

He allegedly threatened staff with a hammer before smashing a glass display cabinet and stealing jewellery.

The man fled the scene into the East Lane car park but was chased by a witness, who restrained the man until police arrived.

The 21-year-old was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with robbery whilst armed.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.
