Man arrested following Carlton sexual assault

Detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad have arrested a man and are searching for a second man following the sexual assault of a woman who was in the Carlton area last Sunday morning, Victoria Police say.

A 23-year-old Doreen man presented himself at Mernda police station this morning and is being interviewed by police.

Detectives are currently searching for 26-year-old Doreen man Harley Palise in relation to the incident.

Palise is described as 185cm tall with a solid build, short brown hair and hazel eyes.

He is known to frequent the Doreen, Heidelberg and CBD areas.

Investigators have also released an image of Palise in the hope someone can identify him and provide information regarding his current whereabouts.

Last night three male witnesses shown in CCTV released during yesterday’s public appeal attended Epping police station and spoke to investigators.

The appeal followed the incident, which occurred on Sunday, 17 June.

A woman aged in her 30s was picked up in a vehicle in the vicinity of Lygon Street and Grattan Street about 4.30am and subsequently sexually assaulted.

Anyone who sights Palise is urged to contact triple zero (000) immediately and should not approach him.
