Police arrested a man in Ararat yesterday as part of an investigation into an alleged sexual assault in the Melbourne CBD, Victoria Police say.
A 19-year-old man was arrested by local police and subsequently interviewed by detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad.
Police previously issued public appeals in June and July for information in relation to his whereabouts following the sexual assault on 17 June.
He has been charged with assault with intent to commit a sexual offence and other related offences.
The man faced court today and was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 22 September.
