Man arrested following police pursuit in Hammondville

A man will face court today after he was arrested and charged following a pursuit with police in Hammondville last night, NSW Police say.

Just before 9pm yesterday, police from Bankstown Traffic and Highway Patrol were travelling along the M5 near Henry Lawson Drive when they noticed a motorcycle come down the on- ramp on the M5 allegedly travelling at high speed.

Police attempted to pull the rider over; however, the rider accelerated away from police allegedly reaching speeds of 200kph. The pursuit was terminated and police exited the M5 taking the Moorebank Road exit.

Police noticed a motorbike crashed on the medium strip with no rider.

Police searched nearby bushland where they located and arrested a 36-year-old man. He was not injured.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with police pursuit, exceed speed limit over 45kph, unregistered/uninsured vehicle, disqualified driver, state false name and unauthorised number plate and a warrant.

He was refused bail to appear in Liverpool Police today (19 June 2019).
