Police have arrested a man following an alleged assault in Prahran earlier this morning, Victoria Police say.
The incident took place in licensed premises on Chapel Street just after midnight.
Investigators were told that the victim, a 25-year-old man, was sitting in a rear lounge when he was approached by another man.
There was a short conversation between the two men before the second man, allegedly grabbed a glass, and struck the victim several times.
The victim’s friends stepped in and stopped the assault with security staff detaining the man until police arrived.
Police arrested a 35-year-old Brighton East man who is still to be interviewed.
