Man Arrested in Mole Creek for Firearms, Drugs

Northern Drug Investigation Services, members of Viper Taskforce and the Police Dog Handler Unit conducted a number of searches in the Mole Creek area yesterday as part of an ongoing investigation codenamed Operation "BOLD".

A man was intercepted driving a vehicle in the Deloraine area and a pistol was located in the vehicle. Police then executed two search warrants at residences in Mole Creek. At the completion of the searches police had locate and seized the following.

  • 12 firearms including automatic weapons, shotguns, rifles, and pistols (some confirmed as stolen)
  • Over 1500 rounds of ammunition
  • 355 grams of methylamphetamine
  • 3.25 kg of MDMA
  • 446 MDMA tablets
  • $47,000 cash

A 43-year-old man from Mole Creek has been charged with a range of offences that include trafficking in a controlled substance, manufacturing a controlled drug for sale, possess controlled drug, possession of firearms, possession of stolen firearms, possess loaded firearm, and dealing in the proceeds of crime.

The seized drugs have a potential street value of approximately $1,000,000.00.

The man has been detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today at 11.45am.
