Man arrested outside Government House in Sydney

A man has been arrested outside NSW Government House after he allegedly threatened and attempted to rob another man, NSW Police say.

About 12:45pm on Sunday 4 November 2018, a 29-year-old man was walking along Macquarie Street, Sydney when he was allegedly approached by an unknown 22-year-old man and threatened.

Fearing for his safety the 29-year-old man approached the Special Constables attached to NSW Government House for assistance.

Police will allege that when approached by two Special Constables, the 22-year-old man became agitated and threw a knife to the ground before he was restrained and arrested.

He was taken to Sydney City Police Station where he was charged with demand property with menaces with intent to steal, custody of a knife in a public place and resist officer in execution of duty.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on 5 December 2018.
