Just before 4pm on Wednesday 28 December 2016, emergency services were called to Clarence Street, Condell Park, where they found a 73-year-old man critically injured after being struck by a vehicle.
Police allege the driver did not stop.
The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics; however, he died on route to hospital.
Officers from Crash Investigation Unit have been investigating the incident and last night yesterday a van was seized from a business in Greenacre.
It has been taken for forensic examination.
This afternoon today, a 49-year-old man was arrested at a home in Greenacre.
He has been taken to Bankstown Police Station where he is assisting police with inquiries.
