Man arrested with pistol, police uniform, badge in Wollongong

A man, 44, is facing a string of charges after police allegedly found a replica pistol and police property in his car, police said.

Wollongong police made the discovery after stopping and inspecting a red Holden Commodore driving dangerously on Crown Street around 11.50am.

During the search of the car, police found a replica pistol, NSW Police uniform, NSW Police identification badge and an amount of crime scene tape.

The items were seized and the man was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station.

The man was later charged with prolong loss of traction (perform ‘burnout’) and three counts of goods in custody suspected of being stolen.

The man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Port Kembla Local Court on Tuesday 2 June 2015.
