Man assaulted during break and enter in Woodberry

An investigation is underway after a man was assaulted during a break-in at Woodberry, in the state’s Hunter region, NSW Police say.

About 4am today (Thursday 31 May 2018), a man entered a home on Segenhoe Street and confronted the occupant, a 25-year-old man, while he slept.

The intruder assaulted the man with a piece of timber before fleeing.

Emergency services were alerted and officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District attended and established a crime scene.

The occupant was treated at the scene but did not require hospitalisation.

An investigation into the incident is underway and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
