Man assaulted during street robbery in Minto

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a robbery that occurred in a carpark at Minto yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 7.20pm today, a man was walking home via a carpark on Erica Lane, near Minto Railway Station, when he was approached by another man who asked him for a cigarette.

He agreed and was reaching for a cigarette when he was set upon by a number of men who assaulted him and stole his wallet.

The 36-year-old man suffered swelling and lacerations to his face and was taken to Campbelltown Hospital for treatment.

Detectives from Macquarie Fields will conduct a full investigation into the robbery and would like to speak with anyone who may have information that could assist.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
