An investigation is underway after a man was assaulted and his phone stolen in Sydney's west overnight.
Emergency services were called to a home on Coleman Street, Merrylands, about 9pm yesterday (Friday 30 May 2025), responding to a report a 79-year-old man had been injured.
The man has told officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command that three boys entered his home and assaulted him, taking his mobile phone.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a laceration to his chest before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
Police established a crime scene and officers have commenced an investigation into the incident.
As inquiries continue, officers are urging anyone with CCTV footage, dashcam vision or any information about the incident to contact Cumberland Police.
