A man has been taken to hospital after being struck in the head with a hammer during a brawl in the city over night.
About 12.40am (Tuesday 30 April 2019), police from Sydney City Police Area Command were called to Dixon Street, Sydney, following reports of a brawl between approximately 20 people.
On arrival officers located a group of men and women, one man appeared to be suffering a head wound.
The man was treated at the scene before being taken to St Vincent's Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
A number of witnesses have spoken to detectives at the scene as inquiries continue.
