Man bound, robbed during aggravated home invasion at Armidale

Police are continuing to investigate an alleged aggravated home invasion in the state's northeast overnight.

Shortly after 1am today (26 November 2019), officers attached to New England Police District responded to reports of a home invasion on Beardy Street at Armidale.

Police were told the occupant, a man aged 57, was at home when three men forced their way into the house.

It is alleged the men - armed with a machete, wooden mattock handle and a hammer - assaulted, gagged and bound the 57-year-old before stealing various items and running from the scene.

The man was able to free himself and notify authorities.

He was taken to Armidale Hospital for treatment to minor injuries to his lower legs and hands.

Officers established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Investigations are ongoing.
