Man caught driving blind in Ballarat

Ballarat Highway Patrol members were dismayed at seeing a man driving with his head out of the driver's side window while driving in Ballarat this morning, Victoria Police say.

Police were stationary at the intersection of Bradshaw & Grant Streets observing traffic when the 25-year-old driver turned right into Grant Street about 8am.

The windscreen of his vehicle was covered with his fog and moisture and the man was not visible in the driver's seat from the front of the car.

He had driven three kilometres from his home address with no forward vision from inside the car.

The incident will cost the 25-year-old driver $381 and 3 demerit points and forms part of a local safety awareness initiative around adapting to the driving conditions during winter.
