Man caught five times limit at Cygnet

A 34-year-old man has had his licence disqualified and has been charged after being caught drink driving, more than five times the legal limit.

The man was intercepted at a random breath testing site in Cygnet and returned a reading of 0.266. He will appear in court at a later date.

Inspector Mark Burke said this level of intoxication while driving was truly disturbing.

"Innocent people have their lives put at risk when drink drivers get behind the wheel," he said.

"Operation Safe Arrival began at midnight and police all over Tasmania will be targeting these offences."

"We've had enough."

"Please do the right thing and help us make sure everyone can get home safely these holidays."
