Man charged, $100,000 dollars worth of drugs during vehicle stop in Charlestown

A man has been charged with $100, 000 dollars worth of drugs following a vehicle stop in Charlestown today, NSW Police say.

Shortly before 2pm today, officers from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command were patrolling on Dudley Road, Charlestown, when they stopped a vehicle.

Police spoke to the driver, a 30-year-old man, before searching him and his vehicle.

During the search, officers will allege they found less than 500 grams of a white powdered substance, which they will allege is the prohibited drug cocaine.

The man was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with deemed supply prohibited drug commercial quantity.

He has been refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court tomorrow.
