Man charged after $97,000 cash found in car following crash, NSW

A man has been charged after police allegedly found $97,000 cash in a car following a crash in Mendooran in the State’s central west over the weekend.

About 9.40pm on Saturday (22 October 2016), officers from Mudgee Local Area Command were called to Mendooran Road following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Following investigations, officers searched the Ford Falcon and allegedly located $85,000 hidden in the boot of the car. A further $12,000 was located on the driver.

The cash and car were seized and will undergo forensic examinations.

The driver, a 30-year-old man, was arrested at the scene. He was not injured during the crash.

He was taken to Coonabarabran Police Station where he was charged with recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, and three counts of goods in custody.

He was refused bail and appeared at Dubbo Local Court today where he was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court 14 December 2016.
